Park recaptures its past

Osterley-history-day-2-.jpgFamilies enjoyed a trip back in time at Osterley Park as the historic house played host to Osterley Through the Ages.

The National Trust organised the weekend to recapture periods from Osterley's past in a series of live displays.

In 1940 the estate became the first training facility for the Home Guard, so visitors got involved with bayonet and grenade-throwing practice, before unwinding with some swinging displays of Lindy Hop dancing at an authentic 1940s concert party.

Warriors and weaponry were only part of the story though, as puppet shows and country weddings also provided entertainment.

There was even a colourful 1940s fashion show featuring both civilian and military garments at the event on Sunday, July 20.

We'd like to hear from you.
