On Saturday, September 20, officers from the Syon Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) supported Notting Hill Housing's first community open day held in the community room at West Middlesex Estate.

All residents were given the opportunity to talk to a number of local partners and receive information on any issues or concerns.

Free bike maintenance and children's face painting was also on hand.

Awareness of climate change and the need to protect the environment is growing and is not restricted to any one section of the community.

On Saturday, October 4, Hounslow Friends of Faith is bringing together speakers and displays from different faiths to challenge and inspire people to do their bit for the environment.

Annie Handford, who has lived in the road for 10 years, said: "It's a very friendly place to live, it's not a typical London street where you don't know your neighbours.

Neighbours celebrating together is an image rarely seen these days but in Osterley they are bucking the trend.

Residents of Osterley Avenue are joining forces to organise a big street party in honour of the avenue's 100th birthday.

The countdown has begun for local primary schools and youth groups to sign up for Mini Pots of Care, a fun and educational planting activity that raises funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The charity is inviting primary schools and youth groups aged 3-11 to get their hands dirty this October by growing daffodils for its Mini Pots of Care fundraiser, run in partnership with Yellow Pages directories.

isleworth-stagecoach.jpgA pupil from an Isleworth drama school has made it into the BBC's new Charles Dickens costume drama.

Drama lessons at Stagecoach, held in Gumley House Convent School in Gumley Gardens, have paid off for Cal Weyland-Oliver.

The five-year-old was selected to play Young Tip in the BBC adaptation of Little Dorrit, which is to be screened this Autumn.

Osterley were confirmed as champions of the Middlesex Championship on Saturday for the fourth successive season as their scheduled match was abandoned.

But having been denied promotion each year by the County League Committee, celebrations at Tentelow Lane were shrouded in suspense as they await their fate once more.
