Celebrate autumn with a magical garden walk through Syon Park
As the sun sets, a stunning array of coloured lights transforms some of the most beautiful and ancient trees in Syon's arboretum into an Enchanted Woodland.
Pick up a copy of the Chronicle this week, and you could get two trips to Enchanted Woodland for the price of one.
The illuminations create a dramatic backdrop, as the path meanders along the waters edge, over a wooden bridge and through a small forest, passing through the Duke of Northumberland's private garden before opening out at the Great Conservatory.
There is something very eerie about being in a forest after dark; tree trunks take on personalities and branches create swathes of shadows that hide all sorts of monsters; where weeping willows swathed in red light, appear ablaze; chestnut trees, appear in motion as their bark spirals up toward the stars; Douglas firs reveal hidden faces and the swamp cypresses with shark teeth roots menacingly jut out from the ground on the lakes edge.
Added to this, lights are flashed across the lake and, as the wind ripples the water, so too do the coloured illuminations.
It is recommended to wrap up warm as it may be frosty and muddy near the lake.
Enchanted Woodland is running between Friday, November 21 and Sunday, November 30.
Admission is from 5pm until 8pm and tickets are £5 for adults and £2 for children from the age of three to 16.
If you have a copy of this story from the Hounslow Chronicle, out on Thursday, you will receive two tickets for the price of one.
