tesco-for-web.jpgA BOTCHED daylight robbery from a cash-in-transit guard took place at Tesco in Syon Lane, Isleworth on Friday.

The guard was dropping off money bags at the supermarket at about noon when a hooded man ran at him and tried to grab the cash.

The guard clung to the bag and put it back in the van, leaving the attacker to jump head first into small red getaway car, which shot off at speed with his legs still hanging out of the the window.

The suspect, who is not thought to have been armed, was described as a black man aged between 25 and 35 who was wearing jeans, a black hoody, black scarf, black trainers and black gloves.

DC Power of Barnes Flying Squad said: "Tesco is very busy on a Friday lunch time, several witnesses have come forward to assist police, but we need anyone who was in the area and saw the suspect either prior to the incident or when the vehicle made off to contact police."

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact DC Power on 020 8247 7948 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
