HOU-ostp.jpgGet into the Christmas spirit by visiting Osterley Park and House to find out how the owners and servants prepared for the season during World War II.

The National Trust are inviting locals to visit the magnificent 18thC estate over the festive period as the house takes on a Second World War theme in commemoration of the war's 70th anniversary.

Witness festive entertaining on an opulent scale as well the contrast of how they coped in the austere days of WWII.

For a special treat book a Christmas lunch in the Osterley tea rooms, available from Wednesday to Friday, November 28 to December 18.

A Christmas fair featuring crafts made by local artisans and craftsmen presents the perfect venue to shop for some unusual and unique gifts, whilst there are plenty of opportunities for children to make their own decorative Christmas contributions at the Winter Wonderland art and craft activity afternoons, on December, 6, 13 and 20 from 12.30 - 3.30pm. Car park charge plus £1 per child.

The WWII event will be taking place on the weekends of December 5-6, 12-13 and 16-20 from 12.30pm-3.30pm.

Booking is essential for Christmas lunches, at least one week in advance, on 020 8232 5057.

Visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk for more information and details of other Christmas events taking place.
